ICRI26 Side Event: Best Practices in International Collaboration of European Research Infrastructures
| Opportunities | | Meeting #1 - ICRI26 Venue |

Event Overview

The International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI) will take place 2-4 December in Rome. Building on the outcomes from WP7 of the ERIC Forum 2 project, a side event to ICRI will be an interactive workshop on advancing international collaboration amongst ERICs and research infrastructures: Best Practices in International Collaboration of European Research Infrastructures.

Organised by the ERIC Forum 2 WP7 team (Instruct ERIC, EMSO ERIC, JIVE, CLARIN ERIC) the aim of the side event will be to provide a platform to expand the findings and best practices identified in the ERIC Forum project to the wider research infrastructure community, both in Europe and worldwide.

See below the outcomes from the analysis of ERIC international partners:

  • Best Practices and Recommendations for Procedures of Engagement with Third Countries;
  • Pilot Examples of Engagement with International Partners
  •

    The session will include input from those within the ERIC Forum consortium, the experiences of other European RIs, and the specific needs and aims of RI staff in third countries, creating a coherent framework that RIs can use to effectively collaborate across regions.

    The event will be broken down into three main sessions:

  • Outline the challenges facing ERICs and European RIs, drawing on the results analysed in the first ERIC Forum 2 report on international collaboration, and understand the extent to which these challenges extend beyond ERICs to the wider RI community;
  • Exchange best practices on international engagement and collaboration, drawing on the conclusions of workshops conducted as part of ERIC Forum 2, and extending them to all European RIs. This will help to prevent any “reinvention of the wheel”, and enable RIs to initiate their international interactions early and effectively;
  • A session led by non-European partners, those in research institutions and funding bodies, outlining their needs, capacities, and expectations for engaging with European RIs, helping to bridge gaps and more effectively enable sustainable collaborations.
  •

    Kindly note that the ICRI26 Conference is by invitation only; registration for our side event is reserved for participants already confirmed by the Conference organisers. The capacity of the room is 35 people.
