Three upcoming webinars, conducted through Work Package 9 Team will take place this autumn, promoting familiarity among all ERIC personnel with gender equality matters such as unconscious bias, undesirable behaviors and sex & gender dimension in research

As part of Task 9.1 – Implementation of Gender Equality Plans and Gender Mainstreaming among the ERICs – the ERIC Forum invites all ERIC staff members to participate in three upcoming Gender Equality-themed webinars organized by the Work Package 9 team.

This webinar series will cover three key topics:

  • The first, on October 8, will focus on the fundamentals of gender equality and the impact of unconscious bias.
  •

  • The second, on November 12, will address crucial workplace issues such as sexual harassment, undesirable behavior, gender-based violence, and microaggressions.
  •

  • The final session, on December 10, will explore Sex and Gender Dimensions in Research and Teaching.
  •
These webinars, led by Dr. Lisa Mittischek from Graz (Austria), are open to all ERIC staff as well as researchers from member institutions. They will be recorded and included in ERICs onboarding and internal training materials.

In addition to the webinar series, the ERIC Forum Gender Equality Working Group, which includes gender equality representatives from over 20 ERICs, is actively engaged in several initiatives. Quarterly meetings are held, with the next one planned for October. A ‘train-the-trainer’ workshop will take place on September 26-27 in Amsterdam, aimed at upskilling Gender Equality officers across ERICs to integrate effective strategies and interventions into their respective workflows and cultures.

Furthermore, the ERIC Forum’s Gender Equality work was presented at the EIRO Forum Gender Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Meeting on June 6-7 in Hamburg.

The Gender Equality efforts within the ERIC Forum are led by EATRIS ERIC’s Member Engagement Officer, Eliis Keidong and supported by Task Force Members Valentina Tegas, (EMSO), Karin Borjesson (ESS), Panagiota Starida (CESSDA), Julia Misersky (CLARIN).

“These training and networking opportunities are just the first step in raising awareness and promoting gender equality, diversity, and inclusion in the ERIC universe,” said Eliis Keidong. “It’s a strong start, and my hope is that we will soon see more dedicated gender equality positions appointed across ERICs. Let’s continue to learn from each other and share best practices!”
