BBMRI-ERIC

BBMRI is a European Research Infrastructure for biobanking that brings together all the main players from the biobanking field – researchers, biobankers, industry, and patients – to boost biomedical research. (Project coordinator).

 

► COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN INSTITUTIONS:

Working level exchanges with a colleague at the UA biobank, previous contacts with the Ministry of research.

RESOURCES/OFFERS AVAILABLE IN SUPPORT OF UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS, BY ERIC/NODES:

informal support of BBMRI staff to the UA biobank colleague and her familiy as she arrives to Graz (apartment, goods, vouchers)

CERIC-ERIC

CERIC (Central European Research Infrastructure Consortium) is a Research Infrastructure that provides open access to some of the best facilities in Europe, to help science and industry advance in all fields of materials, biomaterials and nanotechnology.

 

► COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN INSTITUTIONS:

Collaboration since 2017 with the Užhorod National University (UZHNU), hosting the CERIC outpost in Ukraine. Find more information on the outpost events and activities held in collaboration with the UZHNU.

 COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS:

Researchers working for or associated to Ukrainian institutes can normally access CERIC’s facilities.

RESOURCES/OFFERS AVAILABLE IN SUPPORT OF UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS, BY ERIC/NODES:

CERIC has opened a Call for up to 18 post-doc researchers and 2 IT developers for Ukrainian citizens and residents affected by the war. More info here.

CESSDA-ERIC

CESSDA, the Consortium of European Social Science Data Archives, provides large-scale, integrated and sustainable data services to the Social Sciences.

 

► COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN INSTITUTIONS:

No formal collaboration, but Ukrainian SSH archive/Institute has been present in CESSDA outreach activities and Ukraine marked as a partner country on CESSDA map. A letter expressing support and condemning Russian invasion was sent to our contacts in Kyiv on 2 March. CESSDA also published a statement supoorting Ukraine on its website on 3 March.

CLARIN-ERIC

CLARIN, Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure, makes digital language resources available to scholars, researchers, students and citizen-scientists from all disciplines, especially in humanities and Social Sciences through single sign-on access.

 

 COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS:

The option of setting up a centre for Ukrainian language resources are being explored.

RESOURCES/OFFERS AVAILABLE IN SUPPORT OF UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS, BY ERIC/NODES:

The Czech node has provided an automatic translation system between Czech and Ukraine and everybody can use it for free. The need for integration of Ukrainian language resources into other repositories is being investigated.Attempts are ongoing to identify the possibility to support scholars who have left the country.

DARIAH-ERIC

DARIAH, the Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities, is a pan-European infrastructure for arts and humanities scholars working with computational methods. It supports digital research as well as the teaching of digital research methods.

 

► COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN INSTITUTIONS:

No previously existing collaboration with Ukrainian institutes. A statement expressing support and condeming Russian invasion was published on DARIAH’s website on March 3.

 COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS:

No formal collaboration with Ukrainian scientists but continuing collaboration through EU projects.

RESOURCES/OFFERS AVAILABLE IN SUPPORT OF UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS, BY ERIC/NODES:

DARIAH supports existing DH initiatives for collecting information on fellowships/hosting opportunities to Ukrainian scientists in Europe and in a new initiative to preserve Ukrainian cultural heritage. DARIAH published an announcement on the website with more details on how to support Ukrainian scientists as individuals and/or as organisations on March 4. This announcement was distributed to its nodes and through its social media channels.

EATRIS-ERIC

EATRIS is a European infrastructure for translational medicine that plays a fundamental role in the advancement of knowledge and technology in translational research and drug development.

 

RESOURCES/OFFERS AVAILABLE IN SUPPORT OF UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS, BY ERIC/NODES:

EATRIS would be happy to support in any way possible but have not formulated any special activities/support. EATRIS is currently investigating an incipient initiative to provide mental health tools and support to Ukrainians via an Estonian-based project (EU PEARL IMI2 project) partner. Nothing committed yet

European Social Survey-ERIC

The European Social Survey is an academically driven cross-national survey that measures the attitudes, beliefs and behaviour patterns of diverse populations in more than thirty nations.

 

► COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN INSTITUTIONS:

Ukranian researchers recently undertook a related study to ESS Rouind 10. The data was collected but cannot be processed at the moment due to the invasion . ESS ERIC published a statement of support on its website. the national coordinators have been invited to attend our next virtual coordinators forum.

 COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS:

ESS is currently working to set up an MoU with its Ukrainian colleagues via its host institution City, University of London drawing on our ESS ERIC connections.

EURO-ARGO ERIC

EURO-ARGO is a Research Infrastructure which allows active coordination and strengthening of the European contribution to the international Argo programme.

 

► COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN INSTITUTIONS:

No collaboration yet with Ukraine but these were planned in the DOORS project to extend Argo in the Black Sea.

 COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS:

Personal collaboration between scientist existaround Black Sea. However they are presently on-hold due to the present situation

 

JIVE-ERIC

JIVE, the Joint Institute for VLBI, is an international astronomy institute that provides support for users of the European VLBI Network (EVN).

 

► COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN INSTITUTIONS:

MoA with two institutions in Ukraine recently signed.

 COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS:

Existing and ongoing (as much as possible).

Joining forces with NWO/ASTRON in the Netherlands.

Euro-BioImaging ERIC

Euro-BioImaging is a research infrastructure that offers open access to imaging technologies, training and data services in biological and biomedical imaging

 

RESOURCES/OFFERS AVAILABLE IN SUPPORT OF UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS, BY ERIC/NODES:

Not yet, but several suggestions are under discussion: welcoming and prioritising requests from Ukrainian researchers (no matter what their question is); posting job openings with more visibly for Ukrainian researchers; asking the Nodes, if they see possibilities for local support at their sites.

EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC

EU-OPENSCREEN, the European Infrastructure of Open Screening Platforms for Chemical Biology, supporting life science research and its translation to medicine and agriculture.

 

► COLLABORATION WITH UKRAINIAN INSTITUTIONS:

EU-OPENSCREEN received 60.000 molecules as research tools from a company, currently no resupply possible.

RESOURCES/OFFERS AVAILABLE IN SUPPORT OF UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS, BY ERIC/NODES:

Offer of employment to Ukrainian scientist of project manager in EU-OPENSCREEN central office labs and office.
