Event Overview

ERICs provide high-quality scientific services, cutting-edge technological facilities, and expertise across various disciplines, establishing themselves as strategic assets for the European Research Area. To fully exploit their potential for innovative research, adequate representation across the Pillars of Horizon Europe projects is essential. Since National Contact Points (NCPs) play a crucial role in promoting and facilitating such representation, this webinar brings together ERIC representatives and NCPs to deliver comprehensive information about the ERIC landscape and offerings.

The event will take place online on October 7th from 11:00 to 13:00 CEST. Registration details will be coming soon.

European Research Infrastructure Consortia (ERICs) are key players in supporting European research and innovation. However, regarding Horizon Europe funding opportunities, with the exception of “Excellent Science” (Pillar 1), ERIC involvement in consortia remains significantly under-represented. This is particularly evident in “Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness” (Pillar 2) and “Innovative Europe” (Pillar 3), limiting the full exploitation of ERICs’ potential to advance research.

This webinar addresses this challenge by bringing together European National Contact Points (NCPs), who serve as key figures in guiding researchers, policy makers, and industry stakeholders through the complex Horizon Europe funding landscape.

The primary objective is to create an opportunity for knowledge exchange between ERICs and NCPs: the former bringing comprehensive information about the ERIC ecosystem, the role of the ERIC Forum, and insights into individual ERICs per cluster; the latter contributing their valuable experience in guiding researchers and applicants effectively, thereby facilitating better integration of ERICs into research and innovation projects.

The session will begin with an overview of ERIC services per cluster and practical guidance on participation in Horizon Europe projects, including eligibility criteria, collaboration models, and best practices. Subsequently, success stories and case studies of ERIC involvement in EU-funded projects will be presented, followed by an open discussion regarding future collaborations with thematic NCP networks.
