In the last decade, ecological research groups and infrastructures have contributed to the production of core and domain ontologies, as well as controlled vocabularies to increase data discovery, integration and interoperability.

To make the discovery and use of all these semantic resources easier, in 2020 LifeWatch ERIC developed and released the first version of EcoPortal, which acts not only as a single platform, allowing users to identify and select semantic resources for specific tasks, but also offers generic services to maximise the efficiency of search, annotation and other scientific data management processes. This repository of semantic resources is designed to facilitate the work of researchers in the ecology domain, supporting the community in the creation, management, mapping and alignment of its semantic resources and subsequently also of its data. Users can download and browse individual semantic resources by navigating either a tree structure or an animated graphical view, as well as look at mappings and semantic resource metadata. Signed-in users may also submit semantic resources to the library for review.
