About the ELI Beamlines:

ELI Beamlines is a part of the ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure) pan-European project representing a unique support tool of scientific excellence in Europe. ELI Beamlines aims to operate the world’s most intense laser system and when fully operational it will provide four laser systems of various parameters (e.g., high peak powers of 1-10 PW at enhanced repetition rates and focused intensities up above 1021 W/cm2with the aim to reach over 1023 W/cm2 at the later stage). Using these and also lower power lasers, a number of experimental stations and beamlines are constructed to offer new research capabilities with and on secondary sources of radiation and accelerated particles for international users. This will enable pioneering research not only in  the fields of fundamental physics and material science, but also in biomedicine and laboratory astrophysics and other application with high socioeconomic impact.
