The presentation will address the 5 clusters of the ESFRI roadmap, and will highlight examples of the activities and actions implemented to reach the different SDGs.

OVERVIEW

Research Infrastructures demonstrate their added value to the European Research Area through their scientificexcellence and innovation. It is a diverse community which provides access to high-quality data and cutting-edgeinstrumentation, addressing grand societal challenges, the European Green Deal and the UN SDGs (SustainableDevelopment Goals).

The UN SDGs serve as the blueprint towards a better future for both people and the planet. The 17 SDGs are broadin scope and aim to guide collective efforts, nationally and internationally, towards sustainability by 2030.

Collaboration is essential to arrive at and implement sustainable development solutions. Research Infrastructures(RIs) play, in this context, important roles as multi-actor initiatives that integrate research activities across borders andstimulate, through their services, innovation in the private and public sectors. The proposed Brno Declarationrecognises the role that research Infrastructures play in providing global contributions to such challenges.

From biodiversity organization, marine ecosystems, ocean environments, greenhouse gas, earth science, drugdevelopment, biobanks, translational medicine, food security, climate change, social sciences and more: ResearchInfrastructures contribute to the development of scientific knowledge, data and solutions spanning various fields, resulting in ground-breaking achievements.
